Common questions

Is Culprit still free?
Yes, and every published case stays free β€” the whole shelf, the Daily case and the archive, with no account needed to start. A subscription buys a larger daily interrogation allowance and room to commission mysteries of your own. It never unlocks a case somebody else can play for free.
What is a daily allowance?
Every reply a suspect gives is generated by an AI model, and that costs real money. Rather than metering you per question, each account gets a generous daily allowance that refreshes every day. On the free plan it comfortably covers about one full case a day.
What happens when I run out?
Questioning pauses until the allowance refreshes the next day. Nothing is lost: your case file, your evidence and your open investigations are exactly where you left them.
What is a commission?
A mystery you design yourself β€” you describe the setting and the crime, and Culprit writes the suspects, the evidence and the solution, then proves it is solvable before you play it. Free accounts can keep three; paid plans keep more.
Can I cancel?
Any time, and your commissioned cases stay yours to play. Cancelling returns you to the free plan and the free allowance at the end of the billing period.
